Right Side

Literary Cottage provides services for publishers and writers at any stage of the writing, editing, or publishing continuum. We maintain strategic networking alliances with literary agents, publishing executives, editors, media companies, and writing organizations. We also work with a wide array of writers. We provide legal contracts for all services. Upon request, we provide price sheets and client references. Our services include the following:

Creative Writing Services

We are available for all levels of creative writing from nonfiction books to history to memoir to websites to presentations to seminar materials. We are particularly drawn to writing about psychology, self-help, inspirational topics, parenting, pets, travel, or anything related to writing and editing. We are always available to ghostwrite or assist with memoir, autobiography, and biography.

Book Packaging

We offer book packaging services to publishers and are highly adept at idea generation, project development, project execution, production supervision, marketing consultation, and publicity. We are available to generate ideas for single titles or series and handle all aspects of development, including production supervision and publicity.

Book Doctoring Services (Fiction & Nonfiction)

If you have a problem manuscript, or are simply feeling as if you've lost the thread, we can help. Services available include manuscript assessment, developmental editing, structural reorganization, and line-by-line editing. We can enter into the process at any stage and work with all nonfiction and fiction genres.

Developmental Services Nonfiction

We have helped nearly 100 writers hone ideas and create marketable projects. Having successfully pitched many nonfiction books, we know the process, what sells, and how to guide you every step of the way. Services include project development, agent and publisher query letter review, Proposal Review, Synopsis Review, Manuscript Review, Line-by-Line Edit, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Services, Publicity Strategy, Media & Public Speaking Training. Basically, we can help from conceptualization through preparation of the Proposal, Synopsis, Sample Chapters, Outlines, and Marketing Strategies. We can come in before, during, or after your book has been purchased.

Developmental Services Fiction/Memoir

Even experienced writers frequently need objective help with structure - and we know structure. For fiction and memoir, we can come in before, during, or after your book has been purchased. We provide two levels of highly focused service.

Level One Services: At Level One, we provide an in-depth Manuscript Review & Analysis. We read your full manuscript (or as much as you have prepared) and assess story viability, structure, strengths and weaknesses. We provide a two-to-three page written report that outlines any problem areas and provides specific recommendations.

Level Two Services: At Level Two, we read each line of your full manuscript (or whatever you have prepared) with pen in hand. This assessment includes an in-depth edit that addresses structure, characterization, pacing, scenes, dialogue, setting, tone, grammar, and all related topics. Extensive notes are provided throughout the manuscript, along with a three-to-five page report.

Coaching Services

If you need pep talks, we give pep talks. If you need prodding, we prod. If you need inspiration, we light a fire. Basically, whatever you need to progress we offer on a weekly or biweekly basis. Services include focused support, structural recommendations, progress assessment, and project supervision. If you need help completing your project, we'll devise a game plan for success and guide you through the process.

Public Speaking/Seminars

We also have experience creating, developing, organizing, managing, and promoting theme-based events, seminars, or conferences. We are also available for public speaking engagements related to any aspect of writing or publishing. We also serve as consultants to publishers and are available to offer workshops in improving author/editor relationships.
